The veil should be a non-issue unless it is decided that photo ID is necessary. It is not now at the federal or provincial level. I really don't understand why this is an issue at all. How do mail-in ballots work. Personally I cannot ever remember being asked for photo ID! That the issue is pressed by Harper but by other parties as well just smacks of some sort of prejudice. Are some people going to vote multiple times hidden by the veil or whatever? Are they going to vote for some other person? I doubt it. I wonder how many people actually vote under a veil.
I just wonder what would happen if a person wore a mask. I think that you might be challenged since the mask would normally imply a disguise but not the veil. I guess if you voted in a mask on the way to a costume party it could pass!
ID All that is Needed to Vote in Ontario

Ontarians could wear a goalie mask or a paper bag on their head when casting their ballot in the October 10th provincial election.
Under Ontario's election laws, Ontarians only need to present an ID before voting.
Chief Electoral Officer John Hollins says "no where" in the rules does it say Photo ID, "no where does a burka come into play."
Recently amended election laws in Ontario include a requirement that Ontario's eight million voters present identification before voting.
Hollins says all that's needed is a card with a name and signature on it.
Elections Canada recently ruled that Muslim women can wear veils and burkas while voting in Federal election.
