Alliant to press Ottawa over MDA veto.

Perhaps Harper is aware of the big fight that Bush got into over a Dubai firm's bid to operate U.S. ports. Even though there was already a Brit Firm contracted for the job there was a big fight over this and eventually a U.S. firm got the job. I doubt Harper will change his mind and loose the political capital he has gained with Canadian nationalists but you never know.
Perhaps Harper will nationalise MDA so that the government can profit from it now that MDA will not be donating to Conservative coffers because he won't let the sale go through!

Alliant Techsystems Inc. executives will descend on Parliament Hill today in a last-ditch attempt to persuade Ottawa to lift its veto of the U.S. company's $1.3-billion takeover of a key part of Canada's premier space company.

Alliant spokesman Brian Cullin confirmed that Carl Marchetto, the head of the company's space systems division, will be meeting with officials in Ottawa today to discuss the government's objection to the U.S. weapons and space contractor's purchase of the space division of Richmond, B.C.'s MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA).

Amid a growing outcry the proposed deal could threaten Canada's ability to defend its Arctic sovereignty and threaten high-paying jobs, Industry Minister Jim Prentice took the unusual step last week of blocking the sale.

However, Mr. Prentice yesterday called the government's decision to stop the purchase a move "to stand up for Canada" - a position that makes a change of heart seem unlikely.
