Orwell and supporting our troops

In Orwellian Newspeak words always mean their opposite. This is characteristic of propaganda about the mission in Afghanistan. "Supporting our troops" does not mean ensuring their safety but quite the opposite ensuring that they remain in danger and that some will be killed and maimed. Withdrawing them from an illegal mission that makes them a junior partner in U.S. imperialism and thus ensuring their safety is interpreted as not supporting the troops. The Newspeak works only by the sleight of hand of equating supporting the troops with supporting the mission. The two are quite distinct but for people brainwashed by Newspeak this is never evident.
