Short Musings on the Flaherty Budget

I wonder what would have happened if the Bloc did not decide to support the budget? Did the Bloc save the NDP or Liberals the embarassment of having to support the budget or risk an election they don't really want? Perhaps so.

Will many conservatives be upset over the relatively generous equalisation payments provided Quebec? I think they may be upset but they will still vote for Harper as he well knows.

Is Harper now banned from work at the Canadian Taxpayer's Federation after passing what they call a "Liberal budget"? Probably not, since the Federation realizes that Harper's first priority must be to bribe the public. He could still play the Tax Federation tune when he retires from Parliament.

Native groups complain that they are completely forgotten in the budget. Apparently, the term "arctic" does not occur once in the budget but I haven't personally verified this!

The mayor of Toronto complained that the problems of large cities were ignored. Well that will teach them to make sure they vote for the proper party next time!

How can I bite the hand that feeds me? I will get an extra thousand income tax deduction next year.
